For Don Nott, the best thing about Hands On Tampa Bay (HOT) is that it is, well, “hands on.” The opportunity to get involved with his community is what attracted Don to HOT back in January – and he has been getting his hands dirty ever since.

“At work, we participate in a United Way Campaign every year,” explains Don, who is employed by the Hillsborough County Civil Service Office. “And while I know how important financial support of programs is, I really wanted to get involved and give back directly. Through United Way, I found HOT, which provided the hands on approach I wanted.”

In the past ten months, Don has become an extremely active HOT member, volunteering on projects at least once a week. Don says HOT’s ease of use is what helped him to become involved so quickly. “It is easy to navigate the Web site, click on projects and pick and choose at your leisure.”
