The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and United Way huddled to help much-needed school during Hometown Huddle |
What’s more exciting than Santa Claus to elementary school-aged children? – meeting real Bucs players, and team mascot, Captain Fear. Of course, with the Bucs bringing $5,000 worth of brand-new P.E. equipment to a school whose current worn balls are stored in an old K-mart shopping cart, the day was extra-special.
Bucs players Sammy Davis, Ike Hilliard, Matt Lehr, and Maurice Stovall joined the students to “test” some of the new jump ropes, hula-hoops, footballs, basketballs and parachutes with great excitement. |

With United Way’s community impact initiative underway in the Sulphur Springs/Tampa neighborhood and the Buccaneers mission to instill the importance of physical fitness in children, providing the much-deserved and under-served school with new balls and jump ropes was a great team win for Tampa. |
